Getting Started

Think back to when you were a child – picture a time when a parent, or maybe a
teacher, gave you a big compliment. Take a moment and remember it very clearly –
the smile on their face, the words and tone they used, the pride and happiness you
felt.

Now picture a time when you saw two grown-ups – perhaps your parents or grand
parents, but any two will do – picture them watching you, and out of the corner of
your eye you see them exchange a glance, one of those glances that they share that
says how proud they are of you, how they think you’re just the greatest thing in the
whole world.

These moments really did happen, many more times than you knew. Being a child,
you only caught on a few times, but when you did catch on, how did those moments
make you feel? Generally, people remember a feeling of happiness, of self-worth, of
being appreciated and loved. This is something every child needs, and it’s an
important tool in building a foundation of self-esteem that will last a lifetime.

When your child comes into One-On-One Tutoring, we create a safe, supportive
environment where your child can shine. We notice quite deliberately when your
child improves. We help your child to learn, and to build the skills that will lead to
